| Description of the problem | Mechatonics unit keeps failing. Car either loses drive completely or shifting becomes very rough which creates a huge safety issue especially when entering traffic. The mechatronics unit failed on this car in february of 2016, without about 80,000 miles on the vehicle. The unit was replaced, but the replacement unit failed in october of 2017 with about 120,000 miles. There was a safety recall of 2013 jetta hybrids, but this particular vin doesn't seem to be covered by that recall, and yet it has the exact same symptoms as the recalled units. |
