Description of the problem | Dealer states forward clutch and dual mass flywheel needs replacement based on diagnosis and mechanic experience as they cannot "check" these parts. They also state i need to replace injectors and have a "manual decarbon" procedure due to the direct injection system creating carbon deposits. These are apparently well known issue with this and similar vw models. The car has <100,000 miles and is 5 years old. These are not maintenance items per se and fall under the category of defective components/systems. Vw has extended the warranty on these transmissions for previous model years for many models but not on this one yet. Internet searches reveal many complaints of the same problems. The cost for repairs is $5,600. |
