| Description of the problem | Vehicle purchased with 112,000 miles. At 119,000 the car wouldn't start randomly after driving it all day. Vehicle was parked in my driveway and i was leaving to run an errand and it wouldn't start. There was no indication of any issue. No loud or uncommon noises, no dash lights signaling a problem - nothing! Two days later i had it towed it to a local mechanic and he found a problem with timing chain and head gasket. We are still in the process of having it fully diagnosed, and a price estimate for repairs. I have done a lot of research which indicates this is a very common problem in volkswagen models like mine. Volkswagen is also aware of the problem and refuses to do anything further about it. |
