| Description of the problem | The avoidance collision radar can be intermittent. Sometime, it detects the vehicle in front of me, then stop working and my truck will accelerate towards the vehicle in front of me. At other time, the warning light will come on, saying the sensor needs to be cleaned, even though the windshield is spotless and drop my truck out of cruise control, causing a quick de-acceleration. I was in front of a semi-truck going at highway speed when this happened and the semi-truck came close to hitting me in the rear end. I've had this into my toyota dealer and they told me that the vehicle software does not record when the collision avoidance system isn't working. I consider this problem to be extremely dangerous and have avoided using my cruise control most of the time. |
