The contact stated that after learning of a recall involving rust on similar vehicle's, he decided to inspect his vehicle to see if the vehicle was experiencing the same failure. The contact stated that he noticed that the subframe near the rear suspension had rusted through and needed to be replaced. The contact had not contacted the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle would not be covered under the recall because neither the vin nor the model year were included in the recall.
