Description of the problem | My wife went outside this morning and saw what you see in the pictures. The rear glass was shattered and glass was on the outside indicating that the window had possibly been pushed outwards. There was only a little bit of glass on the inside. I parked the car outside last night and it was normal temperatures for texas. The rear of the car was less than a foot from our garage. The damage is not consistent with vandalism and there are no glass pieces inside the car that would suggest a bat or anything else. We brought the car to texas toyota of grapevine which turned out to be a waste (other than the scheduled oil change). They refused to accept that it could possibly be a manufacturers defect and since they "had never seen this before so it won't be covered under the warranty." they would not look at the pictures i provided and instead decided that there was no way that they could prove it was a defect. They did not even consider that it could be a bad defroster unit (other reports on this site indicated that possibility) or the rear door frame was out of alignment or that there was a defect with the manufacturing of the window itself. No one from management came and asked us what happened or offered to have us walk through what we found. After the oil change was complete, the car was delivered back to us with the glass still in the vehicle and the rear window not covered. Texas toyota of grapevine website states that all service comes with "complimentary car wash and interior vacuum." i can understand not washing but the interior vacuum is unacceptable. As far as we are concerned, they let us leave the facility with an unsafe vehicle with no regard for our safety or the safety of other drivers. |
