Description of the problemI bought a brand new 2006 toyota sienna van at fred anderson toyota dealer in raleigh, nc june 06, 2006. Five weeks later, while our family is driving from the church in a sunday morning, the glass window behind the driver exploded like a car bomb without being hit by anything. Luckily, nobody got hurt and i managed to stop the van to check out what happened. I got the van back to the dealer the day after and they fixed the van window. We expressed our concern on the safety of the glass window because two weeks before our incident, a friend of us who also bought a 2006 toyota sienna van , also got a similar incident while she drove her van to work. When we came to take the van back after the dealer fix the window, there was a lady who also came to the dealer office to fix her 2006 van broken window. Three incidents in the short period of time at a small place like here sound something seriously wrong with this van windows. We requested the dealer and the toyota corporation to provide us with the statistics of the incidents related to the glass window. They said they do not have those statistic and ask us to find out with the nhtsa. We told them we do not feel safe to have our family (of 5 people) driving on this vehicle and not knowing when it will exploded again. We requested to return the vehicle and trade for another vehicle but the dealer said we have to work with the toyota office for that. Their duties are to sell the vehicle and fix it if necessary. We contact toyota and they asked us to fill out the arbitration paper to see if this vehicle can be returned. We are waiting for their decision. We want to file this complain to alert the public of a safety issue which we encountered and see if anybody have the same issue. If this is really a trend then toyota should recall and fix the defect glass window. Imaging if you driving 70 miles on a freeway with the whole family and the window break like that, we can loose control and create a fatally accident. *nm
