Description of the problemI have a 2006 toyota sienna le with less than 40,000 miles. The rear hatch strut has failed and the hatch will not stay open on it's own and comes crashing down with intense force if not held open. When it first happened it came crashing down on my back and hurt it. I am quick to move out of the way now when it closes because it can cause serious harm to anyone in its way. This is of serious concern to me with a 5 year old and a 3 year old. I contacted toyota about it and they want to charge me $400 to fix their problem. I have seen there has been a recall for the 2006 sienna with a power door but not for the other models. My guess is that they might use the same strut or the strut is having the same issue. Please investigate this as i have seen numerous people with the same problem.
