Description of the problem	The air bag warning light illuminated, and continued to flash. I took the van to the local toyota dealership the next business day, as a faulty safety system was concerning. The service department handed me a $3,000 estimate to replace a faulty wiring harness and air bag assembly, along with the news that the "platinum" extended warranty i purchased would not cover the repair. It seemed odd for a critical safety system to fail while the vehicle is relatively young, so i checked online. One site alone showed 85 owners of 2006 siennas with this same problem. From a reliability perspective, a critical safety system should last longer than this. This is especially true when repair of the system is prohibitively expensive. The items affected were a floor wire harness and side air bag assembly, part numbers 82161-08330 and 73920-ae031.
