| Description of the problem | I am a 42 year old partially disabled mother of 3 children under 5 years old. I went grocery shopping on this sunday as i do every weekend. I had 2 shopping carts full of food, and as every grocery shopping trip i have one of the store employees help me with my cart to the handicap parking spot and hand me the bags from the shopping cart to me to the trunk. This particular sunday i opened the hatch and as soon as it was to the top i grabbed the bag from the 16 year old summer worker of shoprite of branchburg nj. As i was putting the bag in the trunk the hatch was closing me in the trunk. If it wasn't for the fast response of the shoprite employee i would have been crushed, hurt even more than i was or even killed! She grabbed the hatch that had me wedged in the back of the trunk, it was on my back and my belly was on the bumper part of the trunk. She held the hatch door and even pulled it up a little bit so i could fall to my knees to get out of the trunk. I have 4 ruptured/herniated discs in my lower back and one in my neck. When this happened i contorted myself to drop to my knees and twist my head to get out, i fell to the ground. I had bruises on my back as well as scratch marks! Thank god for that employee! I would be dead! This happened out of the blue, never happened before. My god why did you not recall this problem with the 2005 toyota???? What if someone was not with me! What if my daughter (s) were with me? I am still in more pain from the hatch closing in on me! I have not used my trunk since this incident and have a vehicle full of my children's things since i can not use my trunk - i have not been able to look into repairs as i have no one to watch my children while i bring to toyota to get repaired! Shame on you for not informing toyota owners ! |
