| Description of the problem | 2005 toyota sienna rh sliding door component has failed and door can not be opened. The latch and locking assembly has a plastic sliding button that prevents the door from being opened while locked, but allows door to open if unlocked. This tiny inexpensive part has broken. Toyota does not have a replacement part. For the manual door, you must purchase the entire door module for $400. 00. Total to repair $1000. 00. This is a design flaw. The door part should not fail due to normal wear and tear, and if so it should be easier and cheaper to repair. This is a safety issue. Imagine not being able to open the side door in an emergency because a 3 cent plastic part fails. I have read online about several cases of this same part failing. |
