Description of the problemPower slide door pulley cable assembly failed on the driver side of a 2005 toyota sienna xle with 84,000 miles. The cable snapped and renders the door useless. Pauly toyota dealer (crystal lake, il) did not even come within 20 feet of the van and quoted me $1600 to repair. The cable of the passenger side of the car has shows that the protective cable coating is crumbling and the cable is rusting making it a matter of time before passenger side door cable snaps as well. This is a very poor design that the cable is constantly exposed to the elements and prone to rusting and snapping (there are a lot of posts on the internet of 2004 sienna owners with the same problem). The failed part is the cable, but you are required to purchase the entire motor assembly to repair - it is a poor design to begin with, especially for owners that live in cold weather climates where the vehicle is exposed to freezing/thawing, road salt, etc.
