| Description of the problem | Driver side steel wheel partially separated from hub due to shearing of 4 of 5 wheel lugs. Tested an additional wheel lug/nut on passenger rear wheel with torque wrench set at 85 lb-ft and it sheared off. Just prior to wheel separation, loud "pops" were heard which caused vehicle driver to reduce speed and shoulder the vehicle. No body damage, just shaken driver. All wheel nuts were properly torqued to factory specification of 85 lb-ft less than 3 months ago. *js |
