| Description of the problem | Excessive engine oil consumption. Did oil consumption test at toyota and they said there's no problem but still oil runs dry after 3k miles. Took it to another non toyota service center for second opinion and was told that i had two options: to replace the entire engine at a cost of $5k or to live with it and check oil level weekly and refill it yourself if oil level is low. Also recommended using 10w40 oil due to high mileage. I chose the latter and so far going good. Really not happy with toyota dealers response as they were hesitant to help and kept telling me to change the entire engine that would cost me $$$ since my warranty expired. |
