Description of the problem	Excessive oil consumption. Notices my vehicle used 1/2 a quart of oil in 480 mile. Took it in for excessive oil consumption test. Dealer indicated i may have to do $170-$1200 in gasket replacement to qualify for warranty repairs. First i could not see what they were talking about, i. E. Not leaks visible/apparent to me. Also this did not make sense especially since the repairs they indicated i may need to do, will have to be redone during the warranty repairs. When asked why, they said they had to require them to be done because toyota hq would stick them with the warranty repair bill if they disagreed with them as to whether to authorize the warranty repairs. Toyota has admitted they have a design flaw in this engine in this vehicle. Why won't they fix it without such a hassle. This needs to be made a formal recall so they are forced to stop taking advantage of their customers.
