Description of the problemAfter my engine oil light flickered briefly a few times when driving. I had the oil checked and found it virtually empty, we put a quarter in and took it to the dealership where they filled my oil and taped the oil cap and had me return between 1000 and 1300 miles. Today i took it in at 1200 miles and was 2 quarts low. Have had all of my oil changes done at 3000 miles at the same dealership the car was purchased. They claim a letter was sent offering a oil consumption test and would have possibly covered repairs if i had an issue during the 10 year period they were offering warranty enhancement. I never saw such a letter. My car never had lowe oil recorded until my one oil change where i was basically empty. I have filed a claim with toyota, but they are saying there is nothing they will do for me. This is a well known issue with many lawsuits and should be a recall. Never once did the service people ever mention this issue or offer to do the oil consumption test when my car was under warranty. The engine is probably going to require a new pistons and rings and cost several thousand dollars to fix. I think toyota needs to step up and take responsibility for these faulty engines they put in their toyotas.
