Description of the problem	About 4 weeks ago (and again, this morning, twice!), i experienced problems when braking: the pedal would go more then usual, but the car would not slow down at the same time as it was producing terrible grinding/scratching noises as if parts were coming off. It is not doing this consistently, but since it happened twice this morning, i am concerned. I did find a recall notice dated august 2009 on the brake system for 12 more northern states that experienced brake problems on 09 and 10 matrix and corolla vehicles with 1. 8 engines due to extreme cold. I live in the mountains if nw n-carolina, and our weather is very much like that in more northern states. Present, we have 4-5 inches of snow on the ground, and temps were about 35-36 this morning (awaiting another winter storm). When it happened last month, it was much colder, but there also was lots of snow on the ground.
