| Description of the problem | Toyota camry 2008 was parked with the engine off. Driver, sitting in driver's seat listening to the radio, hears an explosive noise directly behind him. Turns around to see two four-inch diameter holes on the right side of the back window. The entire back window exhibits fracturing. Within five minutes, ninety percent of the back window has disintegrated into pieces. No one is near the car. No evidence of projectiles in or around the car. Ambient temperature is in the seventies. Weather was raining. Driver had engaged the rear window defogger prior to spontaneous shatter. Defogger was off at the time of shatter. Air conditioning was not on prior to shatter. Mileage 62250. Toyota disowns responsibility for the spontaneous shatter. |
