Description of the problemOn two occasions, while traveling between 40-50 mph, the brakes started applying repeatedly on their own after i had pushed on the pedal to slow the car. This continued for several minutes even after bringing the car to a stop. There was an intermittent hissing sound from the area of the pedals. The pavement was dry and smooth both times. The incidents occurred about 1 month apart. The first incident was on a highway while making a slight curve to an exit ramp. The second time was driving straight on a city street in moderate to heavy traffic. After pulling over, the car would move slowly forward after i took my foot off of the brake in a slow jerking motion while the brakes applied themselves and continued with the hissing noise. After shutting ignition off and restarting the car, the problem stopped. My mechanic was not able to find anything wrong. Seems to be a braking issue with these cars and toyota should step up and take responsibility before a tragedy occurs.
