Description of the problemSpeed control is unstable. When the speed control is on at highway speed, the slightest grade i. E. From an overpass, causes the transmission to downshift one or two gears. Then the car will accelerate beyond the setspeed and then upshift. The car will then be unable to maintain speed again, downshift one or 2 gears, and once again accelerate beyond the set speed, repeating over and over and worsening each cycle. Driving the same road with the speed control off is relatively normal. This car also has a moderate hesitation problem. Pulling out from a side street, the car barely accelerates until rpms reach 2200, then accelerates normally. This has been since new. Coasting down a long grade with speed control off, the car will surge. Returned to the toyota dealer who said there is nothing wrong.
