Description of the problem	Noticed the engine burning oil at an excessive rate (2 quarts every 1500 miles) at around 72,000 miles. At 85,000 miles dealer ran a consumption test and inspected the engine. Advised that the short block of the engine needed to be replaced for $6500. Car is just out of warranty on mileage and toyota will not cover the repair despite the fact that the dealer says this is a common and known issue. A quick search on the internet of "2007 camry burns oil" showed that many others are having the same problem. I have no idea if it's safe for me to drive the car under the current conditions (the dealership couldn't guarantee it was) and i don't feel that it's my responsibility to fix this since it's clearly an issue with this car. Online searches have also revealed that toyota has come out with a new short block for the engine of this car, so clearly, they know the other one was flawed. This car is not even five years old. It's not normal to have to replace the engine. Toyota is insisting that it is. They won't acknowledge the problem. Please investigate!
