| Description of the problem | Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota solara. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph, attempting to make a left turn. The engine rpms began to increase excessively and increased acceleration without warning. When the brake pedal was engaged there was no power response which caused the vehicle to crash into another vehicle, and then continued to accelerate. The gear was shifted into the neutral position and the vehicle was driven against the curb to stop. A police report was filed of the incident. There was no personal injury. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to duplicate the problem. The identical failure recurred two years later. There was no injury. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000. |
