| Description of the problem | The hood latch will not latch or, often, latches but incompletely so that with aerodynamic loads it unlatches. The hood position is then dependent on the secondary latch which is marginal. I have every reason to expect this is a common problem with aging toyota avalons and will, or has, result in a loss of control accident. The problem does not respond to normal maintenance and lubrication. |
