| Description of the problem | The 2016 ranger was in for the "break-in" oil change at 14 hours/50miles and the dealer sonju motors, two harbors, mn noticed that there was antifreeze in the oil. Upon further investigation it was recommended and approved by polaris that the dealer repair the engine under warranty because of the admitted manufacturing defect. The repair required, new piston, cylinder, head, gasket bolts and coolant. I requested, because of the low hours, that the dealer and polaris either replace the engine with a new one or replace the entire unit. This was rejected out of hand by polaris consumer resolutions department; however the contact jereme did offer an extended warranty to "help me to have confidence in the damaged ranger". Even though the warranty states repair the fact that polaris produced such a damaged engine in the first place and it failed in 14 hours is simply not reasonable. Polaris' reputation as a good minnesota manufacturer was one of the reasons that i purchased the ranger in the first place; however i do not believe the company should ask a consumer to accept a defective product with so few hours and miles. I did also contact the dealer sonju motors two harbors. Verone dillon the polaris manager and keith mckenzie the sonju general manager were of no help or support through this process - they simply deferred to polaris' customer service department. To sum up i believe polaris needs to stand up, take responsibility for manufacturing a defective engine and replace either the ranger, install a new engine or offer a trade-in towards another vehicle. As of friday march 3rd i have not accepted polaris' offer to settle my claim. When contacting polaris refer to case number c-4019687. The address on file for this claim is a two harbors, mn address. Which is our cabin address. Thank you for your assistance. |
