Description of the problem	Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan xterra. The contact stated that the fuel gauge malfunctioned and was providing inaccurate fuel level readings. The failure caused the contact to run out of fuel while driving on the highway. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The test results showed that the float that read the fuel was fractured and needed to be replaced. The contact did not have the float replaced in the fuel tank.
