| Description of the problem | The fuel sending unit (fsu) on my 2007 nissan xterra is no longer sending fuel level to the dash gauge. Nissan has admitted fault on 2006 model years only, and has issued a recall for that year, however the forum i am on for my xterra shows it to be a consistent problem for xterras manufactured from 2005-2008. This has left a number of people stranded with no fuel (including myself in the middle of the freeway) while still showing 1/4 tank of gas. At other times, the gauge will show completely empty after having just been filled completely. Dealers are currently charging $400-$500 to repair an obviously defective unit that could result in someone being seriously injured. |
