Description of the problem	The fuel level sending unit on my 2007 nissan xterra needed to be replaced as it was showing the incorrect fuel amount on the gauge and activated the "service engine soon" indicator. I have read that this is a problem with many nissan xterras from 2005-2008. A recall is becoming active for 2006 models only. This recall should be for 2005-2008 models as i have read (online forums) many vehicles in this range have had to replace this part or are in need to. The replacement part that was installed into my xterra is still not entirely accurate. When the gauge shows 1/4 tank of fuel is left and i fill up, it will take 12-13 gallons only. The xterra fuel tank capacity is 21 gallons. The reason i am filing this complaint is tom ake your organization aware this recall should be reviewed and expanded to additional model years. It is somewhat disheartening nissan is well aware of this problem and not correcting it for the entire affected consumer base. Maybe if one of their executives was stuck on the side on the road with their infant child and out of gas when the gauge said 1/4 left, they would understand the severity of the problem.
