Description of the problem	1. Do not appear to be any precursors to the failure. 2. My gas gauge does not work and check engine light is on. One minute it will show full, then next, completely empty. There is no rhyme or reason. Based on internet research, it appears it is the fuel sending unit. Car runs just fine but i never know how much gas is in the vehicle. I ran out in 120 degree weather with an infant in the car and had to walk to the gas station. What would have happened if it had happened on the freeway or over railroad tracks? 3. Called the dealer and they advised it would be almost $700 to fix. Vehicle is out of warranty, but this appears to be a similar problem to a recall in older models. If they are using the same part manufacturer, could it be the same part on my car? Nissan needs to recall this item.
