Description of the problem	I have a 2005 nissan xterra; and a few months ago, the gas gauge stopped accurately reporting the level of gas in the tank. In addition, the "service" light came on (and stayed on) preventing me from passing inspection. After doing some research, i discovered that there are many other occurrences of this problem with various nissan models in the "2005" (etc) year. This is a relatively expensive repair (approximately $500) for a fuel gauge sending unit replacement; and if not repaired, we who have this problem all run the risk of running out of gas, possibly under dangerous high speed road conditions! Despite the fact that this is apparently a "faulty part" supplied by nissan, the company has not offered to post a recall and/or pay for this repair. With the number of complaints, and the possible dangerous repercussions of not knowing when the vehicle will run out of gas, i believe that nissan should replace this part at no charge to the consumer.
