| Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan xterra. The contact stated when starting the vehicle, the check engine light illuminated on the dashboard. In addition, the fuel level indicator would read inaccurate fuel levels. The contact proceeded to drive the vehicle and noticed that the fuel level indicator would fluctuate between gas level readings. A local independent mechanic advised that the fuel level sensor would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure persisted.
