| Description of the problem | Erratic function of dash fuel level gauge, gauge may go from one half tank to "below empty" and warning light comes on without warning. Check engine dash warning light also comes on and stays on, if codes are checked, only code stored is "fuel sending unit-low voltage". Minutes later gauge may return to what appears to be normal function, but check engine light stays on. Gauge cannot be trust to display fuel level accurately and may result in a traffic crash if vehicle looses power while in operation. This issue has been documented by numerous 2005 nissan xterra owners but nissan chooses to ignore the safety issue and refuses to recall the defective fuel sending unit. |
