| Description of the problem | The fuel gauge is inaccurate once below 3/8ths of a tank. This could lead to a stall on the freeway or in a dangerous area leading to an accident. The problem leaves insufficient time to get to the shoulder of the road. Our particular incident had the meter at 3/8ths and the vehicle stalled. The car was shut off and, when turned back on, the gauge was showing empty. In addition to the problem of a stall causing a potential accident, the fuel pump uses gasoline to cool and lubricate it, leading to potential long-term problems with the fuel system as it was run until empty. Nissan has had historical problems with fuel gauges and this is in line with similar complaints throughout the years. |
