Description of the problemThe nissan titan button on the shift lever that shifts manually, after manual shift is turned on, stopped working. This happened while i was pulling a trailer coming down from the mountains. This left my transmission in 4th gear and was not able to use the compression to help slow me down. I was able to get the truck back into normal automatic mode and i had to ride my breaks down the mountain to a flat area and swap vehicles to tow the trailer. After this incident i found that this issue is very common and is specifically caused by normal use of the vehicle. Meaning using the shift lever to pull the tuck out of park and back into park. This motion starts breaking the wiring on the controller. Nissan stated that there was nothing on record of this being a safety recall.
