Description of the problem	While driving on flat road under normal road conditions i heard a loud thump from the rear of the truck followed by a several more intermittent thumps. The truck still drove, but with the thumping. Upon inspection i discovered that the cross shaft for the spider gear slipped out and got in between the pinion and ring gear causing it to bind. It broke several teeth off of the ring gear, damaged the cross shaft and marred the pinion gear.
