| Description of the problem | I observed a leaking rear seal on the driver's side of my trucks rear axle. The vehicle is currently at the dealer getting a new differential. The service technician stated it was differential fluid. The differential gets too hot and the pressure of the heated liquid forces the seal at the end of the axle to fail. The service technician stated that a new differential had been designed to fix this problem and would be installed on my truck when the new parts arrived. This slick fluid could have impacted braking on this truck due to the rear disc brake rotors being exposed. I caught the leak early and no fluid had contacted the rotors. |
