Description of the problem	While driving on a busy city street, my 2005 nissan titan shut off unexpectedly, causing me to be stalled in the lane of travel. The vehicle would not restart and i was forced to push it out of the lane of travel into a nearby business parking lot. The engine would turn over but would not start. The fuel gauge read just over 1/4 tank and no trouble lights were illuminated and all gauges were within normal range. I wanted to try the most simple thing first so i had my son bring a fuel can to me to see if the tank was empty. This ended up being the case and the vehicle restarted and i stopped at the first fuel station and filled the tank up. The gauge went to full after refueling. I reset my trip odometer after refueling to watch the mileage in case the gauge malfunctioned again and it did. The gauge will not move below 1/4 tank. Nissan issued recall #10v074000 on 3-3-2010 for this exact issue. The recall covers the fuel sending unit which causes the fuel gauge to inaccurately display remaining fuel. I contacted nissan at 1-800-647-7261 and the phone rep looked up my vin and told me there were no recalls on my vehicle. My titan is within the vehicle year range (2005-2009) the recall covers and is presenting with this exact issue.
