Description of the problemAbout two years ago i started hearing a ticking noise on my 2005 nissan titan pu at start up. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was until nissan sent me an owner notification card about cracks in the exhaust manifolds. Then it dawned on me what that ticking noise was when cold start up took place. I had the vehicle recently in the shop for 2 other recalls and mentioned this along with the notice i received about this problem from nissan. The service manager said they would look into it but was concerned because i had 83,400 miles on the truck and warranty issues only would fix this up to 80,000 miles. I haven't ever had a exhaust crack on any vehicle that i have owned since 1972 and had some of these vehicle to upward of 250,000 miles. Why won't nissan do something about this to fix this issue because it looks like it is all of them that crack. Seems to me for safety issues and exhaust fumes that should be routed to the rear of the vehicle are now being pushed into the engine compartment and not even getting to the catalytic converter. I'm very disappointed in nissan for the absence of help in this issue and a serious one at that. This should be a recall and of all the watchdog areas of our life where is the epa on this one.
