Description of the problem	While driving on the road, i pressed the brake pedal to avoid hitting the rear end of another car while it was stopped to make a turn. Without warning, the pedal went to the floor and the abs unit came on as well as the "brake" warning light. I had to pull off the road to avoid hitting the car in front of me. The pedal action continued until i could get off the road safely. When stopped i checked the brake fluid and it was at the max line on the reservoir. As a mechanic, i later checked the vehicle for codes stored. It was found to have code "c1179" indicating a possible delta stroke sensor/signal fault. This has happened twice with this truck. Luckily, the first time, no one was in front of me. I really am concerned that this type of fault could seriously injure any occupant(s) in either vehicle or possibly a pedestrian. It may prove to be fatal in any case. One possible fix could be to allow the abs unit to be turned off when code "c1179" occurs. Thank you for your time.
