Description of the problemBrakes on 2004 nissan titan failed while stopping at traffic light. Just prior to failure, brake light lit up on dashboard. Nissan dealer informed me that the brakes themselves were fine but that the computer that controls the brakes "lost its programming." i was also informed that i am the 3rd customer in 6 months to have this event occur to them. To fix the problem, the dealer must "reprogram the vdc system." dealer was unable to tell me why this happened or assure me that the brake failure will not reoccur. I was told that this is a known issue and nissan has issued a service bulletin regarding this problem. This problem could have led to a catastropic accident had the brakes failed during a critical time. I am concerned that nissan has a known brake problem, but there is no safety recall in place.
