Description of the problem | 1) a child safety seat was installed in the center rear seating position, and secured with the vehicle seat belt. The belt was fully extended to engage the retractor lock. Upon removal of the child safety seat, the seat belt was allowed to retract. 2) the failure occurred when an attempt was made to extend the seat belt for it's next use. The seat belt was locked in the child seat safety mode and could not be extended, and therefore the rear center seating position could not be used. 3) nissan dealer replaced the seat belt retractor, and the new part is exhibiting the same problem. The dealer explained that this appears to be occurring in all titan's and the seat belt can be released by forcing (20-30 pounds of force) additional belt into the retractor to release it. The problem has not been corrected and the replaced part is not available. *nm |
