Description of the problemMy truck sounded slightly louder than normal on my short drive home. I was driving on a 35mph road and something didn't seem right. It sounded like my tires were out of alignment. I drove the half mile home on the 35mph road in 2wd. I pulled into my garage and looked at my tires and under my truck. Everything looked normal. The next morning i noticed some oil on my garage floor. After further investigation i saw it was coming from my passenger side front axle seal. My axle was pulled loose from the differential because some weak clip that held the assembly together has broken. I researched the problem and found that several people have had the same exact problem. I contacted the local nissan dealer to get an estimate for repair. I was told that i had a one of a kind problem that they have never heard of. My local repair shop told me it would be several days to get parts and repair the damage. They estimated the cost would be between $350-$600 to replace the front right axle, axle seal, and clip. Additional cost and parts would be necessary if any further damage was found in the differential.
