| Description of the problem | Ticking noise discovered when starting the truck. Sounds seems to come from lower engine compartment or from front wheel-wells. Suspected a leaking exhaust pipe. Took truck to nissan dealership and was informed the exhaust manifolds (left and right) were both cracked. Estimated cost was $2100. Advised by nissan technician to "just leave it alone" as the only result of this problem was the ticking noise and a little worse mileage than usual. Over the last year, several instances of engine fumes causing passengers to roll windows down. Suspect the fumes are coming from the manifolds since no other exhaust leaks have been found. |
