| Description of the problem | When accelerating on highway or city street, i noticed vehicle began making a loud whining/purring noise. Took vehicle to dealership where i purchased vehicle from and they informed me that transmission would need to be replaced (and i do have powertrain warranty). This was a wednesday so i was given a loaner vehicle on thursday while my car would be in the shop over the weekend. Monday morning, never heard anything from dealership. Tuesday, same. Wednesday, still no word late in the afternoon so i had to call and the service coordinator informs me that they were not able to replace my transmission because nissan states the noise the transmission is making is not "loud" enough. There is a service bulletin out on my vehicle that is titled "information to prevent cvt replacement due to misdiagnosis of noise" that the dealership's shop foreman went through and their conclusion was that this is what was wrong with my vehicle. I called nissan and opened a case. My case manager spoke with the service manager at the dealership and my case was closed because according to the shop technician and nissan, there's nothing "mechanically" wrong with my vehicle and it is "working properly" it just makes an unpleasant noise. So i called nissan and re-opened my case and the assistant of my case manager informs me that my next step would be to take it to a different dealership and have them diagnose it and see if their findings are different. There are no nearby alternate nissan dealerships that i can easily take my vehicle to. Nissan is forcing me to continue driving my vehicle despite them knowing there is a known failure and expecting me to continue making monthly payments for a vehicle that i do not feel safe driving. |
