| Description of the problem | Interior heat barely warm with temp set at 90. Dealer reprogrammed air door positions & heat lasted 1 day. 2nd visit to dealer instructed to change flow positions (switch from outside air to cabin recirculation). Windows steamed up; told use ac to dry out air. Would like to see a recall for these safety concerns: 1. Playing around with buttons to change air flow is distracted driving, having to keep looking down to see which button to try next to get heat to clear window steam (driving city blocks or down the freeway while looking at which combo of heat control buttons to try next) 2. With cabin circulation turned on, windows can stam up suddenly like driving thru fog, until i locate the defrost button, but then i lost heat. 3. Safety concern with putting on defroster and not having heat with winter driving; it is scary to have snow falling & although there is enough air to clear steamed windows, there isn't enough heat to melt snow/ice etc. From windshield. Surfing the internet, i see i am not alone with this issue. I also learned there is a service bulletin for faulty or improper operation of hvac. The price to repair this is nearly $700 if the car is no longer under warranty. Although this may seem like more of a "comfort" issue than a safety issue in keeping interior temperature reasonable, but when a person keeps the setting at +90 degrees and the air blowing out is barely warm, when the windows steam up because of improper air circulation, and when a windshield cannot be cleared of snow or ice creating poor visibility while driving, then i believe this is a safety issue that warrants a recall. |
