Description of the problemMy car has 86k miles on it. I was driving on i-95. The speed limit was 75 mph, i was driving 75 mph. Suddenly, the rpm's started going out of control. Then i lost pick up. I managed to drive the car to the nearest exit. I then had to cross over a busy 4 lane state road in order to get to a safe parking place. The car died as i was attempting to cross over the 4 lanes. A wonderful police officer finally pushed my car to safety. He guessed my transmission had failed. He said it happens all of the time in my type of car. He said the crv transmissions were no good. The transmission had failed. Sheehy nissan in mechanicsville, va, the closest dealer, said there were no recalls on the transmission and the cost of a new transmission was $4,600. I had to get an auto body shop to install a transmission from a new car that had been in an accident , for $2660, as i could not afford $4,600. This transmission should not have failed at 86k miles. I am enclosing two bills; one from the dealership for diagnostic fees and one from the autobody shop that did the work.
