Description of the problem	The cvt transmission failed in june 2016 with 122k miles, just 7 years old. I was on the highway with 4 others in the suv when the vehicle jerked made a howling noise and failed to accelerate. Lucky i was able to coast onto the shoulder without getting into an accident. I went to the dealer for a diagnostic check and they informed me that the transmission needs to be replaced and the cost will be $3600. I have reached out to my local dealership, nissan north american, and bbb because they know that the cvt transmissions are faulty and may not break until the vehicle is out of the warranty period. Nissan does not want to cover the cost nor acknowledge that there is a problem with their cvt transmissions. There are many customers on various websites reporting transmission failures and all complaints are similar- failed transmissions and nissan refusing to fix the problem without being paid $3000+. It's shocking that a recall hasn't been done for these transmissions. I've already read dozens of horror stories online over this. I'm shocked that there hasn't been a fatality. It's just a matter of time before all these customers get together and file a class-action lawsuit against nissan.
