Description of the problem	Started the vehicle one day and the airbag light on the dashboard was on. The passenger airbag indicator was also on, which indicates that said airbag is disabled but there was no one in the seat. Looking up the dashboard's airbag light flashing sequence in the service manual (one long blink followed by five quick blinks), the problem stems from the occupant classification system sensor that is embedded in the passenger seat bucket. Research shows that this is a safety component which has been in other service bulletins for various nissan vehicles. For the rogue, the recall campaign bulletin ntb-095d covers this exact issue but only for 2008 units. Forum posts by owners appear to indicate that many others have had this issue for vehicles not covered in said bulletin. The cost to replace the seat is around $2,000, since nissan can not replace the sensor itself. This is cost prohibitive considering that the vehicle has not been in an accident. It presents failure on the vehicle's safety system, which contrary to mechanical systems is subject to minimal wear (if any), significantly reducing the vehicles usability unless the owner is willing to take the unnecessary risk of using it in the mean time.
