Description of the problem	"takata recall" i bought a nissan rogue in 2008. Soon afterward the sensor went off to tells us the the passenger-side airbag was off. That light has stayed on ever since. About eight years ago, the airbag warning light began flashing. When i took it to nissan, the technician said the sensor in the seat was faulty, and it would cost over $500 to fix. I thought that was too much, and i thought it should be covered by the dealer, but they would not fix it. It's been broken/flashing ever since. When the recall for takata airbags began, i recognized that my car was suffering from the common complaints about faulty airbags, and since people were dying i was concerned. I checked online and found that 2008 rogues were part of the recall, so i again took my car to nissan, but they said my particular car was not covered by the recall, though many 2008 rogues were. I then called nhtsa's vehicle hotline, and the person recommend i call a corporate nissan north american number (1-800-647-7261). I talked to a nice woman who said she would turn in my complaint and someone would get back to me the next day. A man called and was again told that my rogue was not in the recall and that nissan, therefore, would not cover this problem. I'm particularly worried as i live in hawaii, which is very moist, and this seems to increase the risk of the airbag going off. Whether it's a takata aribag or not, this was clearly a faulty product, so i feel it should be fixed by the dealer.
