Description of the problem	I had 2014 nissan pathfinder and my vehicle was inspected and passed with no issues in june 2019. The day of the accident, i drove all morning with no type of incidents. My niece, who lives on a hill was in the car with me and i picked her that morning from her house. She had to returned to her house later that morning for an item so i drove back up the hill, waited for her in her driveway, left her house and as i was driving down the hill i realized that my brakes was not functioning, my emergency brake light appeared and then all the lights on my dashboard turned on. The emergency brake wasn't working and i couldn't stop the car. I kept pressing my brakes and nothing was happening. It just kept going! At that point, i looked around to see the best place to crash. I came down the hill crossed over one of the main roads and steered my car into a fence and we hit a tree. All of my airbags deployed and i was grateful that both my niece and i had no major injuries. My vehicle was totaled by the insurance company. I had no issues with my brakes in the past! I did find out that there was a problem with the brake software in the 2013 and 2014 nissan pathfinders model-years and there was a recall. I bought my vehicle in 2014 however i never got a recall notice. I also had my vehicle service at a nissan dealership and brake software failures was never communicated to me. Something went terribly wrong with my brakes or the software that day.
