Description of the problem	My gear shift no longer works and i have been putting a screwdriver in to manually override it for over a year. Yesterday, i put the car in reverse and the brake wouldn't engage. I took my foot off and put it back on the brake and again the car continued to roll. I put it in park and restarted and it worked fine. I have read this may have to do with a brake light switch and this is also related to the shifting problem, but nissan says there is no recall. I was putting up with the gear shift as i didn't think it was a safety risk but i definitely could have had an accident backing out of the parking space yesterday.
